How will I be able to achieve these kinds of results during Feeding the Muse:
As with my other retreats, there is very little formal structure during the first week, although I am present at all times for ad hoc coaching conversations, as a tour guide and for general support. By design, the first week is to help you to disconnect from your existing life. It acts as a pattern interrupt that invites you to switch your focus from the outside world, and from being focused on taking care of the needs of others, to a focus on the inner world, your inner world and all about that inner world that delights you, scares you or that you are curious about. You also use this time to get to know other participants at your own speed, in your own way (and choosing to not get to know them is also perfectly OK!). This is also an important time for you to become aware of lighting, new shapes, forms and textures and to begin to assimilate new experiences into your creative essence.
During the second week we get together as a group on a daily basis. As your facilitator, I offer series of guided meditations, after which you paint your experience of the meditation. As we paint, we talk about what is surfacing into your awareness about yourself as a creative individual, what this might mean for your life, your business, your relationships. Over the week you’ll create between 12 – 20 paintings of your various ‘experiences’. And you’ll have moments of great insight, fear, discovery and joy.
We’ll work with acrylic or watercolour paints on paper throughout the week. The process I’ve developed creates spectacular results whether you are a trained, professional artist or are someone who has never picked up a brush before. It appears very simple and straightforward, yet is a process that evokes huge discovery and insights amongst participants. I provide all materials, including paints, paper, brushes. All you need is to bring some old clothes and your enthusiasm for exploration!
